Homeless Prevention and Rapid Rehousing

On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, which includes $1.5 billion for a Homelessness Prevention Fund. Funding for this program is called the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP). The Department of Commerce worked with private non-profits, the North Dakota Coalition for Homeless People, Inc., and other partners to develop and submit a required Substantial Amendment to the State's Consolidated Plan by May 18, 2009. The Substantial Amendment was posted for public review with comments due by May 13, 2009. The Substantial Amendment has been approve by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
