Food and nutrition issues, and their effect on the low income population in North Dakota, are critical components of the service delivery system. In the periodic needs assessments completed by the North Dakota Community Action Partnership, the shortage of food, and hunger concerns, are primary needs reported across the state by low income people. In an effort to look more closely at food insecurity, the North Dakota Department of Commerce Division of Community Services has joined forces with the Great Plains Food Bank, the North Dakota Community Action Partnership, the North Dakota State University Extension Service and the USDA Grand Forks Human Nutrition Research Center. The Creating a Hunger Free North Dakota task force was created out of this collaborative network which completed a study of the charitable feeding network in the state. Links are provided to view the Executive Summary, the press release, involved partner agencies, the full report that was completed based on the assessment, and the 2009 - 2019 Strategic Plan Snapshot.
